Menemsha Public Beach: Next to Menemsha Harbor. A public beach with clear calm water. Great for kids. Lucy Vincent Beach: Chilmark section of South Shore. A residents only beach with a heavy surf. Squibnocket Beach: Chilmark section of South Shore. A residents only beach with a heavy surf. Katama Beach (South Beach): This three mile barrier beach is located on the South Shore at the end of Katama Road. You can choose between heavy surf on one side and a protected saltwater-pond on the other. Public beach. You can go "off road" with a permit, remember to stay on the marked trails. Fuller Street Beach: At the end of Fuller St. near Lighthouse Beach. Public beach East Beach (Cape Pogue Wildlife Refuge and Wasque Reservation): Located on Chappaquiddick Island. A simply spectacular beach, and it's open to everyone. Lighthouse Beach: Located on harbor at Star-buck's Neck, off of North Water St. This centrally located beach is open to all. Gay Head Public Beach (Moshup Beach): Off Moshup Trail. Strong surf. It's a little bit of a walk from the parking lot; but it's worth it. Gay Head Cliffs and Beach: The Gay Head Cliffs are a National Landmark and are protected by law. Climbing on the cliffs is prohibited . Lobsterville Beach: Located on Lobsterville Road. Public access to more than two miles of beautiful beach and dune on Vineyard Sound. Great fishing! Philbin Beach: Located off Moshup Trail. Private beach with a heavy surf. Oak Bluffs Town Beach: This public beach is over a mile long. The gentle surf and shallow water make it a great family beach. This beach begins at the Steamship Authority dock and terminates at the first jetty heading towards Edgartown. Eastville Beach: Public beach located at the bridge between Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven. Joseph Sylvia State Beach: This two mile long beach is located on Beach Road between Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. It is a public beach that is accessible by bike path. Tisbury Town Beach: Also a public beach located at the end of Owen Little Way, next to the Vineyard Haven Yacht Club. Owen Park Beach: This public beach is located on the harbor off Main St., near the center of town. Lake Tashmoo Town Beach: A public beach located at Herring Creek on Lake Tashmoo. Long Point Wildlife Refuge: A public beach with plenty of surf and privacy. There is a parking fee in summer. Lambert's Cove Beach: A residents only beach on the North Shore. |
| Jetties Beach: Great family beach
with all the amenities you could ask for. Just a short walk from downtown or take the
shuttle. Calm waters make this a great place for smaller children . Good place to
watch the boats coming in and out of Nantucket harbor.
Brant Point: This beach is also close to town and is located right on the harbor channel. Brant Point Lighthouse and the constant Nantucket Harbor boat traffic make this a very picturesque beach. The rocks near the Lighthouse are a good place to cast for Stripped Bass. There are no facilities, but, Jetties Beach is nearby. Children's Beach: A small beach right on the harbor that's great for the kids. Very little surf and a playground along with full facilities make this a great family beach.
Surfside: Located at the end of Surfside Road, you can take the Nantucket bike trail or the public trolley. The younger crowd usually can be found here. The surf is heavy and not recommended for small children. Join in on a volleyball game, try your luck surfcasting or body surf the big waves. There are lifeguards, restroom's, showers, public phones, and a snack bar.
Nobadeer: This is the beach to go to if solitude is what you're after. Located near the airport it is difficult to access as it has no parking facilities. There are no lifeguard or facilities. Cisco: Located at the end of Hummock Pond Road. This beach has heavy surf and a lifeguard.
Madaket: Located at the west end of Nantucket, at the end of Madaket Road. This beach has a heavy surf, lifeguards, and restrooms. Stick around until dusk for a fabulous sunset .
Tom Nevers Another beach that is not always easy to access. Surf can be heavy and there are no lifeguard or facilities.
Siasconset: . Surf can be heavy and there is a lifeguard. Don't forget to visit the nearby village of "Sconset". Siasconset is located at the end of Milestone Road. You can take the shuttle or the bike path to get there.
Miacomet Beach: Surf is heavy and can be dangerous; strong swimmers only--no lifeguard, facilities or food service.
Miacomet Pond: This is the only fresh water pond on Nantucket. Good for younger children. There is parking but no lifeguard or facilities. Keep an eye out for snapping turtles.
